Benefits Access: Check Everything You Qualify For in One Pass
Most households that qualify for assistance are enrolled in only one program. The rest go unclaimed for the same reason every time: nobody checked.

- Earned Income Tax CreditWorth thousands, and you must file to get it
- Food, energy and healthSNAP, LIHEAP, Medicaid and ACA subsidies
- Phone, internet and housingLifeline, provider plans, vouchers and rental funds
Why so much goes unclaimed
Assistance in the United States is not one system. It is dozens of separate programs run by different agencies at different levels of government, each with its own application, its own income test, and its own vocabulary. Nobody sends you a list.
The result is predictable. A household enrols in the one program it heard about, and never learns that the same income figure qualifies it for four others. Screening tools exist specifically to close that gap.

What a full screening should cover
A screening worth your time asks about household size, income, age, disability, and children once, then checks it against every program at the same time.
- Food — SNAP, WIC, school and summer meals
- Energy — LIHEAP, weatherization, utility hardship rates
- Health — Medicaid, CHIP, ACA premium subsidies, prescription assistance
- Phone and internet — Lifeline, plus provider low-income plans
- Housing — vouchers, emergency rental funds, weatherization
- Cash and tax — TANF, SSI, the Earned Income Tax Credit, property tax relief
The credit almost everyone forgets
The Earned Income Tax Credit is one of the largest benefits available to working households, and a substantial share of eligible people never claim it because they were not required to file a return.
You have to file to receive it, and you can generally file up to three years back. That is a meaningful sum sitting unclaimed for households that assumed filing was pointless because they owed nothing.
Work the list in the right order
Once you have your list, do not start at the top. Start with whichever program has the longest wait — housing vouchers and disability determinations take months, so get those applications in first and fill the gap with faster programs while they process.
Then apply for the fast ones: SNAP, LIHEAP, Lifeline, and school meals typically resolve in days to weeks.

Common questions
Does checking affect my credit?
No. Benefit screening is not a credit application and involves no credit inquiry.
Do I have to apply for everything it finds?
No. A screening is informational. You choose what to pursue.
Is there a stimulus payment available right now?
There is no active federal stimulus payment programme. Be sceptical of any site or caller claiming otherwise — the programs on this page are ongoing assistance, not stimulus.
